Can I have a BMW specialist do a pre-purchase inspection, and what do common out-of-warranty repairs on a BMW 1 Series cost?

BMW parts and labor usually cost more than mainstream brands, so a specialist's inspection before you buy is cheap insurance.

Does the top cycle fully and seal without leaks?

Convertible top motors, hydraulics and seals are costly to repair and easy to test in a five-minute demo.

Which scheduled services have been done, and what's due next?

Around 84,045 miles many cars need brakes, tires or a major service. Knowing what's due changes the real price.

What is the out-the-door price in writing, including the doc fee, taxes, title and any add-ons?

The advertised price is rarely what you pay. An itemized out-the-door quote exposes doc fees and pre-installed add-ons before you negotiate.

What reconditioning was done before listing, and is there a recent inspection or Carfax report?

Dealers inspect and repair trade-ins to different standards. Ask what was replaced, what was left alone and whether the state inspection is current.
