Question 1

Can I have a Mercedes-Benz specialist do a pre-purchase inspection, and what do common out-of-warranty repairs on a Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Accepted Answer

Mercedes-Benz parts and labor usually cost more than mainstream brands, so a specialist's inspection before you buy is cheap insurance.

Question 2

Which scheduled services have been done, and what's due next?

Accepted Answer

Around 103,200 miles many cars need brakes, tires or a major service. Knowing what's due changes the real price.

Question 3

When were the transfer case and differential fluids last changed?

Accepted Answer

All-wheel and four-wheel-drive systems have their own service schedule that is easy to skip, and neglect is expensive.

Question 4

What is the out-the-door price in writing, including the doc fee, taxes, title and any add-ons?

Accepted Answer

The advertised price is rarely what you pay. An itemized out-the-door quote exposes doc fees and pre-installed add-ons before you negotiate.

Question 5

What reconditioning was done before listing, and is there a recent inspection or Carfax report?

Accepted Answer

Dealers inspect and repair trade-ins to different standards. Ask what was replaced, what was left alone and whether the state inspection is current.
